Where are you from and where are you going?

Who am I?

 DSCF3409AAA

My name is Patti. I am older than I like to admit. I have worked hard all my life. Held steady jobs and always supported my household one way or another. I have done everything from custom woodworking to professional truck driving. I have worked in precast concrete, bio-solids and road construction.

In 2013 I was laid off from my driving job. Even with my solid background and skills I was unable to find employment. I ended up moving to Mountain Home Idaho, in a HUD housing facility.

Between the layoff and now, I have been diagnosed with degenerative disc disease in my spine, which is causing severe sciatica. Also with PTSD, from an experience in 2006, which we don’t really need to go into. I have been diagnosed with severe anxiety and clinical depression. I am unable to work a regular job like I am accustom to, because the pain in back becomes unbearable with in about 8 to 10 minutes of being on my feet. Simple things like housework are done in “baby steps”.

It is very difficult for me, being a single mom, unable to work, and having almost no income at all.

This website  and  my photography, (which I will go into later), are my only means of income.

I Love Photography

I was about 9 years old when i help my first camera. It was an old instant polaroid.  You remember? You take the photo and the picture would print out right there from the camera. Flip it over, wait 5 minutes and voila! you have your photo. I fell in love with it right then.

When I was 12 I ended up with another camera in down town San Francisco. i do not have any of that footage anymore, but I sure wish i did. From there I went through a few point and shoots and it somehow escalated into a nikkormat and then a fuji 4 px, next a fuji finepix 18x and now I shoot with a Nikon D3200.

I now do freelance and family photography.

I Love photographing teenagers and children. It’s easier to make them laugh! I don’t have a big portfolio of family photography as I just decided to start doing professional photography a little over a year ago. Like any other business, it takes time to build clientele. But I am loving every minute I get to do it.

How did I get started in jewelry?

I was talking with my mother back around October 2014, discussing the difficulty I was having getting enough photo sittings to make ends meet. I was selling everything I had worked so hard all my life to obtain. CD’s,movies,  electronics, tools, having yard sales and frequenting pawn shops. It was horrible. I was so depressed at losing everything I had work so hard to obtain.

She mentioned that she had been making jewelry, as a hobby, for some time. She offered to teach me how to make jewelry. She showed me how to tie off ends of nylon stretch cord and how to use findings properly. She sent me home with a “starter kit”. Some beads, findings, stretch cord and she even bought me a set of needed tools.

So, I sat down and went to work. as you can see, this is where I am 7 months later.

Now that you know about me, I would love to hear about you and your life story’s.

You can tell me about yourself. What do you do with your time? What are your hobby’s. What things would you like to see blogs about?

I also am open to suggestions for changes and/or upgrades to the site. Would you like to see my photography for sale? What style of jewelry would you like to see?

I can’t wait to hear from you!
